Art is survival for me. On the canvas my paintbrushes take me to places where I feel free and brave to reveal how the “self” processes the outside world. I must say that I don’t consider my work finished until my audience, you, are here with me. I believe that art is art only when it meets the observers’ eye. So, I invite you to visit me and join me to make my art possible.
As for my background, beside a doctoral degree in medicine and an MFA degree, I have attended various art school programs in NY and studied art with individual artists.I have a passion for contemporary abstract art, and I deeply admire, the works of the Dutch artist, Willem De Kooning.
Bio
J.C. Henderson was originally a medical biologist as well as a published writer and poet, which, in each of its own way, cultivated the artist she has become. Her rich experiences, combined with an equally rich inner world, have made her a versatile painter. Her artworks focus on exploring the themes of the subconsciousness and the human psyche. Much of her inspirations are drawn from her teaching at a mental health institution where she taught the inmates to use art for their healing. Henderson has sold more than a hundred of her original paintings and published images of her artworks, some of which as cover art, in literary and art magazines in the U.S. as well as in London.Examples of the magazines that featured her artworks:
